Lost to the Ages is a quest in The Elder Scrolls V: Dawnguard. The quest details the Take the lift across from the room back up to Skyrim to continue the quest.


While this quest is part of the Dawnguard expansion it was added by it of course it is not actually part of the Dawnguard story line! What that means is that it is basically unconnected to the main story line so you can do it whenever you like -- and now is a good time since we are already talking about it Check the map to locate your destination -- Arkngthamz -- and pick a nearby point that you have been to Dushnikh Val is closest and fast travel there, then run the rest of the way or ride your demon horse. When you arrive you will encounter a ghostly voice that warns you to turn back -- this is actually a Nord woman named Katria who died in an earthquake while on a quest to find the mythical Aetherium Forge. As you move closer she will reveal herself to you and tell part of her story -- a story of betrayal and need -- and then directs you to her journal. The quest details the investigation of a lost ancient Dwemer secret and the search for four pieces of solid Aetherium. It can be started by locating and reading a copy of the book The Aetherium Wars. It can also be started by entering Arkngthamz and talking to Katria , skipping directly to the second part of the quest. Upon arriving at Arkngthamz, a disembodied voice can be heard warning the Dragonborn to turn back. When continuing through the ruin, the disembodied voice will be given a name a female Nord named Katria who will reveal that she is on the quest to find the mythical Aetherium Forge. She reveals that she died during an earthquake in the Dwemer ruin.

Further on you will come across a large stone gate protected by a complicated lock. In order to open it, you need to shoot the items around the stone fact in the proper order aim at the blue crystals. One of the hints can be found inside Katria's journal and the second one on a scrap of paper lying beside the corpse of one of the adventurers. The second piece can be found in Raldbthar , west of Windhelm. The cave is pointed on a map inside Katria's journal. It will appear on the world map only after you get close enough to it.

Playing as a garbage collector, I cleaned it all, including the Glowing Crystal Shard. Several hours later, after complete the Dawnguard Questline by killing Lord Harkon, I decided to do the sidequests and then I read the book The Aetherium Wars , however the misc quest Investigate the ruins of Arkngthamz did not trigger. I searched about and I have seen people with the same problem but they completed, in the way of forge one of the Aetherium equipments, by traveling by their own. I did the same, but Katria's Ghost was not present in any of the locations a Crystal Shard could be taken and, now in Ruins of Bthalft , without her ghost again, I can't activate the Dwarven Mechanism to access the Aetherium Forge.
